Hunger Games movie may be the next Twilight

The Next Twilight?Now that the world has had its fill of wizards and dark lords, bloodsucking vampires and six-packed werewolves - Hollywood has set its sights on a post apocalyptic future as its new money-minting enterprise.
"The Hunger Games", also known as the next "Twilight" in most trade circles, is a blood curdling tale of the country Panem (where America stood earlier) governed by a government known as Capitol.To prove its absolute power, the Capitol picks a boy and a girl child to fight to the death in an annual televised even known as 'The Hunger Games't. If the 1984 novel by George Orwell introduced the spine chilling idea of omnipotent "Big Brother" watching over an entire state like a hawk, Suzanne Collins gave it a fitting 21st century twist by incorporating the "reality TV" culture, so prevalent in our lives, to the story's plot. The Hunger Games was on the New York Times best-seller for over 100 consecutive weeks. While most book critics gave it their stamp of approval, it has been applauded by book-lovers throughout the world for its finger-biting suspense and feisty characters.
With Oscar nominated Jennifer Lawrence already in the lead, the production houses are eyeing a 2012 summer release. In the meantime here is a low down on the star cast and the characters that are all set to knock Edward Cullen, Bella and Jacob off their reigning thrones.
Katniss Everdeen: Finally, a heroine who can kick ass rather than sitting on the sidelines waiting for her knight-in-shining armour to save her.16-year-old Everdeen chose to go fight the Hunger Game instead of her younger sister Primrose. Characterised by her lethal fighting and hunting skills, Everdeen will be portrayed by actress Jennifer Lawrence in the movie - the actress who single handedly skinned a rabbit in her most recent movie, "WInter's Bone".
Peeta Mellar: One edge of the love triangle that figures in the novel, Mellar is known for being wise-beyond-his-years and Everdeen's adversary in the Hunger Games.Josh Hutcherson, who was part of last year's Oscar nominated "The Kids Are Alright", will be playing Peeta in the movie.
Gale Hawthorne: Everdeen's admirer No 2, Gale, is a silent rebel who will be portrayed by Liam Hemsworth in the movie (better known as Miley Cyrus' on-off again boyfriend).
Effie Trinket: Trinket is Katniss and Peeta's escort in the movie. She is known largely for her airhead ways and her insistence for all things to be 'proper'. Actress Elizabeth Banks is all set to adopt the role of the eccentric pink-haired woman.
