There are no BFFs (Best Friends Forever) or forever foes. BT looks at the Hollywood buddies’ club, and chronicles those who have looked past their differences to those who still hold grudges against their ex-pals Nicole Ritchie and Paris HiltonThese two friends definitely don’t lead the simple life. The socialites cum reality stars got along famously for the show’s duration and even after.
But their split in 2005 was left unexplained with both parties choosing to keep quiet about the reasons.
While one rumour said that Paris was miffed with Nicole for showing friends one of Paris’ sex tapes, the buzz was never substantiated. Paris made a big show about looking for another BFF, but we’d like to think the two have grown up since then . Motherhood has sobered Nicole down while Paris deals with her troubles to this day. A few weeks ago, the two met at a party and kissed and hugged for the benefit of the snaparazzi. Almost like the spat had never happened.
Lauren Conrad and Heidi MontagThe feud between Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag could well be attributed to one person — Heidi’s husband
Spencer Pratt. The two made front page news after their televised feud began on The Hills, a spin-off from Laguna Beach. The former best friends couldn’t see eye-to-eye after Spencer entered the picture. Lauren disliked Spencer and was constantly finding fault with her guy. Lauren also felt Heidi was giving up their friendship for her new boyfriend (Heidi and Spencer were dating then). Thereafter, Lauren blamed Heidi for revealing a sextape. Heidi vehemently denied the accusations but the damage was done.
Denise Richards and Heather LocklearTalk about cold. Heather and Denise were best friends for many years, with Denise even being one of a few of Heather’s best friends to be invited to her cozy 44th birthday celebration. The two women became very close after meeting on the set of Spin City in 2001. But when Heather’s marriage to Richie Sambora crumbled in 2006, Denise, fresh out of her split from Charlie Sheen, went in for the kill.
According to some rumours, Heather suspected that Richie and Richards had relations before their divorce, but regardless, it’s not cool to date your best friend’s ex-husband even after the divorce. Even though the romance between Denise and Richie was short-lived, chances are there’s no reconciliation on the cards for these two bombshells.
Jennifer Aniston and Courtney CoxThe two squabbled in 2007, when Jen, fresh from her break-up from Brad Pitt, was reaching out to her pal Courtney. She asked her to be with her on the sets of a film being shot in Oregon. Courtney refused, as husband
David Arquette didn’t want to go. Jennifer saw this as ‘unsupportive’ behaviour from a friend and called her selfish. They stopped talking for a while after that. Then, as late as June 2011, during her trial separation from David, Courtney started getting quite close to her co-star on Cougar Town, Brian van Holt. Jennifer saw shades of her ex-husband, Brad, in the way her best friend was carrying on with Brian. The two had a falling-out after that.
Gwyneth Paltrow and MadonnaFamed best friends Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow broke up after years of studying Kabbalah together, revealed sources in early 2010. “They don't speak. I can’t tell you exactly why they had a falling out, but Gwyneth can be jealous and competitive,” said one source to an American magazine. Apparently things started going downhill after Madonna’s split from husband Guy Ritchie, leaving Madge and Gwyn with “less in common’”. Sadly, these two had been friends since 1999. Gwyn even called Madonna something “like an older sister” in a 2007 interview.
Lindsay Lohan and Hilary DuffMore often than not, it’s a guy that drives two gal pals apart. Hilary began dating Aaron Carter in 2002, at a time when he was also seeing Lindsay Lohan. While they said a reconciliation wasn’t possible through 2005, it took until 2007 for the two to let bygones be bygones and let Aaron fade away from memory. However, we sense the two have some unfinished business. Watch this space.
