Oscars 2026: Nicole Kidman recalls lonely 2003 Academy Award win, says 'I don't have anyone to jump on the bed with'

The year 2003 was perhaps one of the best for actress Nicole Kidman. Attending the starry night at the Oscars that year, the famed actress took home one of the most prestigious titles: the Best Actress award for her work in ‘The Hours.’ Read ahead to find out more about what she had to say.While attending the Oscars 2026, Kidman recalled some of her best moments at past award ceremonies, including her Best Actress win in 2003. Talking about it, she shared, “There was Moulin Rouge, The Hours, The Others. It was overwhelming at the time, but it was incredibly exciting as well.” Over the years, the star has talked about how big a deal her 2003 win was, but more so, it was a hard time for her personally. While appearing on ‘The Jess Cagle Show’ in 2024, the actress recalled feeling very lonely when she first returned home with the award. She opened up about having no love in her life and being unable to celebrate it properly. She recalled thinking at the time, “I need a new life. Please. I'm sitting here, and I don't have anyone, as I say, to jump on the bed with. There are certain times when you just go, ‘I need to jump on the bed.’”On the work front, Kidman will next appear opposite Sandra Bullock in ‘Practical Magic 2,’ a direct sequel to their 1998 film. Other than that, she has also been cast in an upcoming horror film titled ‘The Young People.’ Not many details are available about the project; however, she will star alongside Lola Tung, Nico Parker, Brendan Hines, Tatiana Maslany, Johnny Knoxville, and Heather Graham.
