Steven Spielberg, the pioneer of the new Hollywood era, is a living legend. He is regarded as one of the most influential in cinema history. The three-time Academy Award winner whose master profile includes blockbusters like ‘Schindler’s List’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ is also a man of great intellect. Quote of the day by Steven Spielberg

These words come from one of Steven Spielberg’s conversations with Sean Fennessey in this year's South by Southwest (SXSW) conference. During the conversation, the filmmaker discussed a number of things such as his obsession with sci-fi, the "fear-based" imagination that drives his work, and other of his philosophies.

‘Our best friend is our intuition’

Spielberg shared, “Our best friend is our intuition... I listen to the whispers more than I listen to the loud voice of the brain. The whispers of the intuition speak stronger to me than my brain, which is always trying to take over. It’s a fight between this and that.” Spielberg, one of the greatest visual designers in the history of cinema, believed preparation is important, but overthinking is what kills the real plan.
The 79-year-old admits that on films like ‘Schindler’s List’ and ‘The Fabelmans,’ he didn't use a single storyboard. He showed up and let the space and the actors dictate the camera.
