'Roofman' tales: Channing Tatum recalls being intimidated by Kirsten Dunst; says, 'I just wanted her to like me'

Channing Tatum, the ‘Magic Mike’ actor, expressed that he was nervous to shoot with the ‘Spider-Man’ alum, Kirsten Dunst, for his upcoming film ‘Roofman’ during their premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6. Noting that he has been obsessed with her work, the 45-year-old mentioned that the thing he wished was for her to like him.In an interview with People, Tatum revealed that his favourite film from Kirsten Dunst’s filmography is the 1994 classic ‘Interview with the Vampire.’ “I couldn't imagine doing what she did in that film at the age. Everything she's ever done, I've been obsessed with,” he said about the 43-year-old actress. Furthermore, Tatum acknowledged that he was nervous to work with her. “I was so intimidated to work with her — and when I say intimidated, I was afraid. I just wanted her to like me,” he said while laughing, before adding, “I was like, ‘Please like me!’”Directed by Derek Cianfrance, ‘Roofman’ revolves around a former army ranger who robs McDonald’s restaurants by cutting their roofs, and escapes prison after being arrested, only to fall in love with the charming divorced mother. As he starts living the souble life, the classic cat and mouse chase sets in. The film will be released on October 10, 2025.Previously, in a candid conversation with Variety, Tatum opened up about regretting being estranged from his 12-year-old daughter after divorcing Jenna Dewan last year. “But it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time. I wish I could just have her all the time,” he said, adding that the former couple are on good terms right now. The couple had separated in 2018 after being married for almost a decade.
