Salma Hayek wants to ‘inspire’ Syrian refugees

Salma Hayek is known for her humanitarian work and is a leading force in Chime For Change, the charity organisation she set up with Beyoncé and officials at a fashion house in 2013 to support and spread awareness of women’s rights campaigns around the world. Hayek now considers it her ‘full-time job’.

She recently told a German magazine, “I’m working very closely with the Syrian refugees, even before Chime For Change, and since (then) I’ve been able to aid them further.I’ve been to the camps and I’m very motivated by this because these wonderful people have nowhere to work, no country and many of them have lost their loved ones. It’s hard for them to see any hope in their situation. There’s four million of them and they deserve to have a childhood, a life, and something to hope for. It’s a very dangerous situation because I worry about ISIS. We need to inspire them for a better life and a better Middle East because they can come back to the country and do things different and be a hope for the world.”
