Anne Hathaway vowed to change her lifestyle after facing a guilt-ridden morning. One of the prominent actresses once opened up about her hangovers that stayed long enough to make her stop drinking until her son turns 18.

Why Anne Hathaway quit drinking

In 2019, during The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Hathaway recalled a morning when she encountered the aftereffects of a dizzy night. While she wasn’t driving her son to school, she didn’t feel good sitting in a car in an inebriated state. “I quit drinking back in October,” she said on the talk show. When the comedian host asked whether she wouldn’t touch a drink ever again, the 42-year-old said that at least for 18 years while her son was living with her in their house.



“I’m going to stop drinking while my son is in my house, just because I don’t totally love the way I do it, and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings,” she said, accepting her challenges and taking a way to sobriety.

Additionally, Hathaway expressed in a 2019 Boston Common Magazine interview that the last time she was hungover – it stayed for five days. “My last hangover lasted for five days. When I’m at a stage in my life where there is enough space for me to have a hangover, I’ll start drinking again, but that won’t be until my kid is out of the house,” she claimed.

Hathaway does have a wild night in Mauritius with Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, while shooting for ‘Serenity’ that she doesn’t remember. As they entered the island, the couple invited her to a barside tour, showing her one of the best rums in the world. When DeGeneres asked how it was, the actress said, ‘I don’t remember.’
