Tom Felton returns as Draco Malfoy for 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' Broadway debut
Tom Felton is returning to the Wizarding World, but this time, he's taking the magic to Broadway.
Best known for playing Draco Malfoy in the original Harry Potter films, the actor will reprise his iconic role on stage in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at New York’s Lyric Theatre. Sharing his excitement in a statement, he said, "Being a part of the 'Harry Potter' films has been one of the greatest honours of my life."
He went on to add, "Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in 'Cursed Child' this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play."
The first look of the actor in character was also released online. Unlike his earlier slick blonde hairdo, Felton will rock a rather long ponytail for this new venture. Speaking to Today Show, he said, "It's very much a pinch me kind of situation. I keep thinking I'm dreaming because I let go of that character 16 years ago and now I'm getting a chance to step back in his shoes, as a father this time, in a new story. I get to meet Draco as an adult."
Felton will be making his Broadway debut in the role, beginning performances at the Lyric Theatre on Nov. 11 and playing through March 22, 2026.
This marks a major moment in Harry Potter history, as Felton becomes the first cast member from the film series to officially join the stage production. Set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the play follows the next generation of Hogwarts students — specifically, Harry Potter’s son, Albus, and his unlikely friendship with Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son.
Felton’s return adds a nostalgic layer to the production, which has already enchanted audiences worldwide. The actor is no stranger to the stage; he made his West End debut in 2022, starring in "2:22 A Ghost Story" and in 2024 was in Gareth Farr's play "A Child of Science" at the Bristol Old Vic. His movie credits include "They Will Kill You," opposite Patricia Arquette, and "Fackham Hall" with Damian Lewis.
