They’ve got chocolate-boy good looks, great voices and squeaky clean images. At least, that’s how boy bands start out. But sooner or later, the lure of the big, bad world of sex and drugs proves too irresistible. Most recently,
it was revealed that One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is going to be a father soon, breaking many teeny-bopper hearts across the world. And the girl in question, Briana Jungwirth, isn’t his current girlfriend, but an American stylist who he had a brief relationship with a couple of months ago.
This isn’t even the first time that 1D have made headlines over a scandal — last year, footage emerged that showed Louis and his former bandmate Zayn Malik allegedly smoking a roll-up joint in Peru last year. We take a look at other boy bands gone bad.

But soon enough, reports of drinking, drugs, affairs and secret children started surfacing and followed the boys well after they disbanded. Singer Lee Ryan used to stir up controversy regularly with his one-liners, the most famous being, “Who gives a f*** about New York (9/11) when elephants are being killed?”

timesofindia THE BACKSTREET BOYS The Backstreet Boys, or BSB, as they were known by their fans, were the definitive American boy band of the late 90s. They even went on to become the best-selling boy band in history. However, the pressure of all that fame got to them and the band was beset with drug and alcohol addiction problems. In fact, it was revealed that members AJ McLean and Nick Carter had been admitted into rehab after the boys had to cancel several of their concerts in 2005.

Reports of rivalry and backstage fighting surfaced in the media, but things came to a head after a nightclub brawl that led to the arrest of band members Ritchie Neville and Jason Brown, after which the band broke up in 2001. They reformed a couple of times, as a quartet first and then a trio.
