Clear skies smiled down on the race course as Bangalore awoke to the biggest racing event of the year.
Horse owners, racing enthusiasts, club members and socialites flocked to the race course, dressed in their very best, for one of the biggest derbies in the country. However, it was the city’s young people who turned up in droves, in a flurry of enthusiasm.

They made guesses and placed bets, winning some and losing some, taking it all in their stride with plenty of good cheer. BT spotted derby regular Ambareesh, as well as Sandalwood actors Chetan, Santosh and Meghana cheering on their favourites. The derby itself saw three minutes of glorious action, with an absolutely superb finish, the crowds cheering themselves hoarse, as Pronto Pronto, crossed the finish line, earning himself one of the most prestigious titles of the year.
And so, as people from all walks of life came together to share in the excitement, the derby afternoon was, without doubt, a veritable riot. The crowd made its way home at the end of a brilliant day, feeling absolutely exhilarated. We’re pretty sure they’ll be back again next year.
