Bengaluru folk get ready for vehicle-free weekends on Church Street from today
Church Street kickstarted its Vehicle-Free initiative starting today. Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa was at the inauguration along with other officials. The chief minister urged people to understand the aim behind vehicle -free weekends on Church Street and urged everyone to be a part of the same and promote sustainable behaviours.
After addressing media persons, the CM walked till the end of the street.

Meanwhile, cafes on Church Street catered to customers as they set up their seating arrangements on the pavements. The Vehicle-Free weekends will be held for the next four months. This is a part of the Clean Air Street initiative by Directorate of Urban Land Transport in association with Indian Institute of Science (IISC).
Several folks were seen enjoying their meals as they were seated on the pavement outside the respective safes and restaurants. This pilot project is set to run till February next year. After the inauguration, many people were seen taking to social media to share their experience of a traffic-free Church Street.
