Actor Sabyasachi Mishra, who has helped many distressed people during the lockdown, has taken the responsibility of two baby girls suffering from rare diseases. He is bearing the medical expenses of the girls.
The actor said one of the girls is suffering from spinal muscular atrophy (type-1), a rare muscular disease, and the other is suffering from retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer. Both the girls are less than one-year-old. Both parents of the second girl are blind.
Talking to us, he said the parents of both girls approached him for help. The girl suffering from retinoblastoma is currently undergoing treatment at an eye hospital in Bhubaneswar. “I have spoken to the doctors and will take care of her treatment. Besides, the parents are very poor and I have decided to help them so that they can start their work here,” said Sabya.
He said the other girl, who belongs to Angul, is currently undergoing treatment in Bangalore. “After I got to know that the treatment costs a lot, I am trying to use my connections in the US, particularly doctors, to help her,” he added.
