Play lovers were in for a feast as Chandigarh witnessed theatrical adaptation of 1989 classic
Daddy, the film which saw
Mahesh Bhatt's daughter
Pooja debuting to big screen. For the play, Bhatt duo-- Pooja and Mahesh-- visited Chandigarh on Saturday evening.
Owing to a strong subject, the play did move the audiences, leaving them amazed as actors gave a strong performance.
During the occasion, Mahesh Bhatt talked about the importance of theatrical adaptation of films. Directed by Dinesh Gautam and scripted by Mahesh Bhatt himself, the play featured Delhi-based actor, also Mahesh Bhatt’s protégé,
Imran Zahid in the lead role. In the film, the role was essayed by veteran actor
Anupam Kher. The play is based on the story of a girl, Pooja, who has no recollection of her mother and father and is told that her father had passed away. Later, she meets her father and makes him overcome alcoholism.
The play Daddy, first staged at New Delhi in 2014, 25 years after the release of the film, had also been premiered in Pakistan at the International Theatre Festival 2015 organised by the National Academy of Performing Arts, Karachi.
