Gurdas Maan releases book on cancer survivors in Mohali
Leading Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan launched a book on cancer survivors in Mohali hospital, Stronger than Cancer: Unique Stories of Strength and Survival. The book features inspirational stories of eight cancer survivors who were treated at the hospital. The book launch happened amongst the presence of patients along with their families, who were present at the event to narrate their journeys, along with fraternity of the hospital, including Abhijit Singh, and Dr Rajeev Bedi, Director, Medical Oncology.
Cancer survivors—Balbir Singh, Vidisha, Amit Pushkarna, Jatinderjit Kaur, Parminder, Vijay Kumar Verma, Sonika Pandey, and Teena Sharma—shared their survival stories against cancer. The book highlights their resilience, the unwavering support of their families, and the innovative treatments provided bythe oncologists. Each case presented unique clinical challenges, demonstrating the power of hope and medical excellence.
Said Maan, who has also written a foreword in the book. “Through their struggles, these warriors have discovered the incredible power of hope, the boundless strength that can come from faith, and the beauty of life when one chooses to fight. I strongly feel that in challenging situations like these, worrying about the illness would have only made it harder. The determination to hold on is what helped each one beat cancer. I have even said in one of my songs – Chinta chikha samaan hundi, shubhchintak kehnde, tu rajj ke mehnat maar, bure din roj ni rehnde, chinta na kar yaar, bure din roj ni rehnde. These individuals have done just that. They have truly released their fears and embraced the strength that resides within.”
