When an Indian, a Chennaiite more importantly, gets selected to be on the panel of judges of the Emmys, our stars are unlikely to let it go without a celebration. Rightly, enough, the South Indian Artistes Association, together with the US Consulate of South India recently felicitated the man of the hour Prakaash M Swamy at the Sheraton Park.
It was a small but eminent gathering, with celebrities from all walks of life, coming to express their views on Prakaash and congratulate him. Starting off with the national anthems of both India and USA being sung, the programme was steered by master comic Bosskey. While singer Harish Raghavendra came and affectionately congratulated Prakaash uncle, it was TM Balamuralikrishna, who floored everyone with his musical tribute. Sarath Kumar who looked as dashing as ever in a casual jacket and jeans made an impression with his speech as did Radharavi. When comedy actor Chinni Jayanth came on stage, he minced no words and said, I hope Prakaash brings the Emmys to India and I hope I win it! The programme was followed by drinks and dinner, where the stars mingled and chatted away. Spotted among others, were nightingale Aruna Sairam, MB Nirmal, S Ve Shekhar, director Vasanth and US Consul General Andrew Simkin.
