It was an evening of jugalbandi that brought together different generations of classical musicians together. From 25-year-old sarod artist Abhishek Borkar to veteran vocalist Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, the Bhilwara Sur Sangam event in Kamani Auditorium gave Delhi a melodious weekend. Organized in memory of leading classical vocalist Gaansaraswati Kishori Amonkar, the evening began with a video as a tribute to her.

Sarod player Abhishek Borkar, along with tabla maestro Ustad Akram Khan, had the hall reverberating with applause. “It is a great honour to be performing here,” Borkar said. After the duo completed their set, vocal maestro Pandit Venkatesh Kumar mesmerized the audience in the second half of the show. He said, “It is a myth that the younger generation in India is moving away from classical music. In fact, we are increasingly having more of the younger audience in our shows.” Leading flautist Pandit Ajay Prasanna and distinguished sitar player Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan also performed on the second day of the event.
