Delhi Times Fashion Week: A fashion fiesta

The second day of the Little Tags Luxury Delhi Times Fashion Week powered by Cool Lip Music (a platform to promote the underground rap scene in India and give budding rap artists a forum to showcase their talent) presented an interesting mix of chic and casual style, and traditional craft on the runway.
A tribute to craftsmanship
Charu Parashar’s collection was an ode to her team, the master craftsmen.She said that it was dedicated to handcrafted techniques. “This collection was created during COVID for destination weddings, we wanted to create something new. Kaftan is the biggest trend for this year, and even brides prefer to wear something light and comfortable, so this collection was a relook at wedding
outfits,” said Charu. She added that coming back to DTFW to showcase her collection has been a great experience, “I think it’s getting better each season.”

Redefining athleisure

Considering that loungewear has been the biggest trend last year, it was interesting to see Siddartha Tytler redefining athleisure with velvets and satins. Oversized jackets, jumpsuits, bomber jackets and animal prints were the highlight of his collection. “The collection has a lot of velvets and is very sporty. There are a lot of separates that one can style in different ways. There were a lot of volumes, 3D pockets and zippers in the collection,” said Siddartha.

Keeping up with the traditions

Traditional never goes out of trend, and it was evident in Joy Mitra’s collection. While the collection was mostly about saris, anarkalis and lehengas for women with interesting prints and a touch of gold, for men it had kurtas with broad pyjamas, churidars and dhoti pants. The designer said that he decided to name the collection Utsav as he wanted to celebrate and spread some festive vibes. Actress Ishita Raj, who was the showstopper, said, “I loved the colours in the collection as they are speaking of life and happiness.”

Playful prints

Sticking to her signature style, Anupamaa Dayal experimented with prints and kept her silhouettes free-flowing. From
kaftan dresses to gowns and dresses with strings, belts, scarves and pom poms made the collection ideal for a beach
vacation. Interesting hair accessories and hand-crafted shoes matching with the outfits stole the show.

Contemporary couture

Be it bodycon dresses or sexy gowns with slits and ruffles and jumpsuits, Nikhita Tandon’s collection was perfect for those looking for edgy designs and something different for the wedding season. The designer shared, “It was a festive collection with a red carpet look. It had that young feel to it. There were a lot of pop colours, a little louder than what I usually do, I wanted the girls to feel happy wearing the collection.”

Welcome winter
Madame’s autumn-winter 2021 collection had ready-to-wear designs ranging from classic denims to cocktail dresses, and some winter essentials like jackets, coats and high collar knitwear. From bottle green to deep maroon and black, the colour palette was carefully chosen.


Keep it casual

Anand Bhushan’s collection was a mix of evening and casual wear, but what stood out were those easy-to-wear, high fashion styles perfect for every occasion. See-through dresses and gowns were the highlight.

Conscious fashion

The show presented by the budding designers from the International Academy of Designs and Art aimed to raise awareness on sustainable fashion through zero-waste designs, some created from discarded fabrics. Saris draped with pants and leggings, drape tops with tapered pants were quite the show-stealer.

Say yes to sequins

This season, get ready to embrace sequins and shimmer. The latest collection presented by Kazo had gorgeous cocktail sequined dresses in gold and structured jumpsuits with just a hint of embroidered patterns.


Look of the day
Campus Princess 2019 and LIVA Miss Diva 2020 finalist Shreya Poonja, managed by Times Talent, looks gorgeous in Joy Mitra’s design. The smokey eyes and makeup, by Lakmé Salon and Academy, added a glamorous touch to her look
