It was a perfect day to flag off Chorus, the annual fest of Sharda University, Greater Noida. For the students it was another opportunity to be a part of this much awaited fest. The university completed one year of its existence.
The function began with a brief about the university by the dean, Dr Prem Vashistha. PK Gupta, chancellor, and Dr RP Singh, vice chancellor of the university inaugurated the annual festival.

Pankaj Shreyaskar, deputy chief information commissioner of India was the chief guest at the function. The first item was the inaugural dance performance by the students of the university. However, the real fun for the students began with the mellifluous rendition of Sufi songs by Z Waddali and his group. Waddali belted out some popular songs like Tu Mane Ya Na Mane Dildara, Kitna Sona Tujhe Rab Ne Banaya, Piya Re and Mera Piya Ghar Aaya among others. The students rose to their feet and cheered him on.
The solo dance competition was another major attraction of the fest as students from Sharda University and other colleges took part. From classical to western dance, it was a sheer delight to watch these students putting their best foot forward. A student danced to a couple of Michael Jackson tune. The
function was shot through with some comic relief as the mime group Jagran presented a skit Jagran Ka Kabadi Band.
Day two of the annual youth festival opened with Bollywood film director Imtiaz Ali, favourite of the genX, judging a Nukkad Natak competition and declaring the group Natyakriti as the winner of the competition. “I am amazed by the acting skills and zeal of the students of the university. These students are really talented, though I believe the scope of Nukkad Natak is not for competitions, but for real life,” said the director.

Imtiaz Ali also delivered a lecture on filmmaking while showing some of the scenes from his films, Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. He also selected two students through a skit acting competition; they will be taken to sets of his next film for a day. The selected students were Vishal from IILM and Mritanshi from Delhi University.
The day’s events included competitions in poster making, tattoos and Ikebana. A quiz show by quiz master Charu Sharma also got a resounding response from participants and the audience.
The day wrapped up with an exciting fashion show. Renowned models such as Nayanika Chaterjee, Amanpreet Wahi, Montu Tomar and Ritu Singh walked the ramp and showcased outfits designed by Charu Parashar.
Around 3,000 students of Sharda University, Delhi University colleges and other NCR colleges participated in various events at Chorus.
