Women dressed in colourful lehenga choli and men in dhoti kurta brought the colours of Madhya Pradesh to Delhi recently.
Folk dance performances, art exhibitions and other cultural activities were presented at this get-together organized by MP’s tourism ministry for the capital’s travel, trade and hospitality sections. Suhasini, a local folk singer from MP, sang the state’s song.

Many from various industries, including travel and trade and trade associations, besides other dignitaries, were spotted at the do.
Inaugurating the function, chief minister of MP, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said, “This year has been declared as the year of tourism in Madhya Pradesh. We are in the heart of India and have a lot of wonderful tourism opportunities. We have a beautiful landscape, superior standards of cleanliness, a safe and secure environment and a simple populace.” Inviting Delhiites to MP, the state famous for places like Ujjain and Khajuraho, and its wildlife, especially tiger reserves, Surendra Patwa, the state’s tourism minister, said, “The resurgence of this sector in the state has been widely noticed and appreciated in recent years, both within the country and outside.” Said Anthony JC DeSa, chief secretary, MP, “We are adopting various progressive tourism policies and have an abundance of land. We are offering attractive incentives to investors who want to invest in the tourism sector in the state.” Also present were LK Pawar, secretary, tourism in the central government, and Ashwani Lohani, commissioner, tourism and managing director, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.
