Amateur bartenders and liquor lovers alike, got to witness Emile Chaillot’s bartending experience as he mixed up some of the most innovative drinks with vodka and champagne at a hotel recently. The Paris based master bartender and mixologist impressed everyone as he downed vodka shot after vodka shot (apart from tasting every drink he prepared before serving) and still managed to stay sober while mixing up some yummy cocktails.
The audience learnt how to prepare some of the world’s most famous drinks including cosmopolitans and mojitos apart from a few lesser known inventions of Emile. The guests were encouraged to get behind the bar and make their own drinks as Emile supervised and they were made to drink vodka shot for every mistake made. Looks like Emile intended to get everyone’s spirits high.
For every mistake, the measure of vodka to be taken by the bearer can only be described as nothing less than a Patiala peg. As smiles turned into giggles and then into raucous laughter, Emile added, “I am not being sexist or saying vodka is only a ladies drink; there are women who like rum and whisky too but the point is that vodka is something that is tasteless and any flavour can be added to it including fruits which women like. Unlike rum and whisky, it is not sweet. I will go around town and visit places to see how bartending in India is flourishing.”
