New Gurgaon residents participate in fire mock drill
A fire mock and evacuation drill was conducted at a Sector-83 society in
New Gurgaon
. The one hour longmock drill
witnessed participation of more than 350 residents. Santosh Kumar, the facility's chief fire officer, lead the drill with the objective to train people on how to 'act and react' during fire incidents. During the drill, Santosh Kumar, said, “The sole purpose of the drill is to educate the residents about do's and don'ts during fire breakout. It is important that people know how to react in such situations so damage can be controlled. If each of us has a know-how of what to do in adisaster

More than 350 residents participated in the mock drill Residents were divided into groups and were taught things like how to use a fire extinguisher, how to prevent the fire from spreading and why not to use the lift, how to deal with electrical during a fire etc. Residents were also given a detailed session on how to act during such emergencies and methods of controlling the damage. Ashish Chakraborty, a resident of the society, said, "The fire drill
was necessary and a beneficial exercise. The activity has instilled confidence in me to handle fire emergencies on my own before professional help arrives.
