Gandhi jayanti celebrated by shunning plastic
As most of the states in the country vowed to ban single-use plastic by Gandhi Jayanti, the movement gained momentum everywhere. In Madhya Pradesh, use of plastic had already reduced by a good amount, and various awareness raising initiatives only added more people who shun plastic. On the ocassion of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, a 5 km long rally made from collecting single-use plastic household items was taken out by a city based NGO Basix.

The volunteers walked with the chain of plastic items - beginning at Rajwada and ending at Regal Square in the morning. Thy appealed to people to stop using such items. This was a part of the nationwide campaign launched by the centre.
