Cleaning up for a sea change
As part of the World Ocean Day, the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad recently held an event in Veli beach premises to spread awareness on the importance of oceans and seas and how to protect them. The event was inaugurated by Prisons DIG S Santhosh.
The event also saw eminent social workers, university professors and nature lovers discussing about ocean pollution and its impact on marine life.

We spotted Dr. Bijukumar, professor and Head of the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, who spoke about the issues faced by sea-life and marine ecosystem.
The event was followed by a beach cleaning drive held in association with Haritha Kerala Mission and Helth Standing committee of City Corporation, which saw the participation of techies, employees from the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad as well as college students.
