Where is Ritu (
Rituparna Sengupta)? This question was on every guest’s lips at the premiere of
Ranjan Ghosh’s Ahaa Re, held at a city multiplex on Friday evening. However, the actress, who plays the lead in the film, surprised most by walking in quite early by her standards! And she dazzled in an Indo-western outfit, as she warmly ushered in the guests with her trademark smile.
When we asked her about the film, she smiled and said, “It’s a journey of love and sacrifice of Farhaz and Basundhara.
And I can relate to Basundhara’s silence and inner fight so well! She’s me in all possible ways,” said Rituparna, adding that she was happy that Arifin Shuvoo had made it to the
premiere too.
“Till Friday morning, Arifin was saying he wouldn’t be able to make it and we were really sad. But he made an entrance like a hero just before we were about to cut the cake to celebrate the film’s release and my mother’s birthday,” said the actress, who had gifted a silver pendant to her mother, which the latter had worn to the premiere.
We also caught Ranjan at the theatre, biting his nails and looking quite tense. “I hope the audience likes the film, in which food and cooking play major roles. The food is the body and love, the soul, of the film,” he told us. Sohag Sen, who conducted the acting workshop for the cast, couldn’t stop praising their dedication. “I will see the final result today,” she said with a confident smile.
Prosenjit Chatterjee, who was also there to boost the team’s morale, told us, “When I was entering, I saw Ritu’s car going out. I guess she was going somewhere. But she immediately came back when she came to know that I was at the premiere. I couldn’t catch the film, as I had meetings lined up, but I will definitely watch it, as I like simple love stories.” Prosenjit was right. Rituparna was missing for a while during the screening. When we asked her about it later, she said, “I had to attend an award ceremony.”
