In keeping with the tastes of Kolkatans, variety has been the buzzword at The Big Ben, New Kenilworth Hotel, on Friday nights. The first anniversary of Friday Night Live saw five massive acts, Gravy Theory, Underground Authority, Khilaugh, The P.a.g.E and Safire belting out originals, while on other occasions, Los Amigos was seen enthralling the crowd with beautiful melodies of Latin jazz and The Srinjay Banerjee Trio blending in contemporary and root music from around the world.

Be it Babuband churning out West Coast jazz, bossa nova and urban folk or Five Little Indians merging strong grunge/alt roots with melodic rock, variety has always ruled the roost. Subhajit of Lakkhichhara, who was spotted at the venue recently, said, “Kolkatans are open to different kinds of music and that makes me proud as a musician belonging to the city.”
