Finding solace in life through art is now perhaps one of the ways to get rid of this negativity that’s going on around us due to the pandemic. City artistes have always celebrated Rabindra Jayanti through song and dance shows but the situation is not conducive since last year. So, danseuse Sulagna Ray Bhattacharjee came up with a new music video, Amar Mukti Aloy Aloy, which was made from home along with her students and was released to mark the occasion of
Rabindranath Tagore’s 160
th birth anniversary.
Sulagna made this video without any gathering to assure the safety of her students. Around 10 dancers contributed to the video from the confines of their homes.
Talking about the initiative, Sulagna said, "Now, we need melody in life to heal our souls. I am looking for activities through music and dance to keep ourselves engaged in positive work during these trying times. Rabindrasangeet has been our refuge all the time. Even in this crisis, Tagore's songs make us feel liberated. So, as an ode to Tagore on his 160
th birth anniversary, I choreographed and presented this video. I hope and pray that we all get over the dark time soon and get back to our normal lives.”
