The 13th National Kettlebell Sport Championship, held alongside the 8th WKSF India International Trophy, concluded in Hyderabad on April 5, drawing participation from around 150 athletes representing 14 states across India. The four-day event, showcased growing national interest in kettlebell sport while also serving as a crucial qualifier for the upcoming WKSF World Championship in Chișinău, Moldova, scheduled for June 2026.Among the performers was Shivani Agarwalla, who delivered a performance in the Military Snatch event. Competing in the 59.90 kg bodyweight category with a 16 kg kettlebell under the demanding 12-minute format, she completed 211 repetitions to clinch the gold medal. Her effort also earned her the title of Best Female Lifter in the Military Snatch category, underlining her dominance at the national level.With this achievement, Shivani has secured her place at the WKSF World Championship, marking another significant step in her international career. Adding to the family’s achievements, Shivani’s son, Lavik Agarwalla, made an debut at the Grand Prix Kettlebell Championships. Competing in the One-Arm Long Cycle event with a 6 kg kettlebell, he completed 39 repetitions to win a bronze medal in his category, signalling a promising start to his sporting journey.The championship also highlighted a growing grassroots movement, with over 20 child athletes participating in the competition.
