Jaya Bachchan at Namrita's artwork showcase

It was the first time that Namrita had the limelight solely on her, and she was quite shy initially. I hope the guests also engage with the works on display. This is what Namrita Bachchan had told us the evening before the opening of the show of her artworks.

Housefull: “I hope the guests also engage with the works on display.” This is what Namrita Bachchan had told us the evening before the opening of the show of her artworks. The Bachchan surname ensured a huge crowd, of course. Namrita, daughter of Ajitabh and Ramola Bachchan, showcased a collection of illustrations she’s done for her grandfather, Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s Madhushala – A House of Wine, which has been made into a coffee table book.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, POSE: Needless to say, there was hardly any space to make one’s way from one part of the gallery to the other. The shutterbugs went into a tizzy every time a guest arrived. Hosts Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna made sure all the guests enjoyed themselves.
A FAMILY AFFAIR: The real flurry of activity started as soon as the Vadras arrived. Robert, casually dressed, came with Priyanka, who was looking as chic as ever in a smart top and skirt ensemble. The couple joined their children, Raihan and Miraya, who were already there. The family went round the gallery, looking at the artworks on display, after which they sat with their children outside, on the terrace. When we got chatting with Miraya, Robert said, “She’s fond of painting.” Priyanka added, “She makes some very beautiful paintings.” To which Robert said, “And her favourite is Papa.” And then added with a wink, “No, no, I’m just kidding.”
SURPRISE PACKAGE: The surprise guest of the evening was Jaya Bachchan, who came in with daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda. The mother-daughter duo had a dekko at some of the works before heading to the terrace to catch up with Ajitabh and Ramola.
DILLI KI SARDI: No, we are not talking about the nip in the air here. We’re talking about the sudden dip in temperature when the Vadras and Jaya along with Shweta crossed paths at this do. We just told you how the Vadras were enjoying themselves on the terrace. They made a quiet exit from there and went to the other part of the gallery the moment Jaya and Shweta came there.
MATCH POINT: When Ritu Nanda walked in, it was hard to miss how she had matched her blue earrings with her black and blue salwar-suit. What was most fascinating was that even her spectacle frame was blue! ‘No, darling, I didn’t try matching it. It’s just a coincidence,” she laughed.
BOLO BHEEM: Namrita’s equally reclusive brother, Bheem, soon joined her. We had noticed Bhim avoiding the shutterbugs all evening. “We are very private people. We step out only when we have something worthwhile to show the world,” said Namrita.
