Mumbaikars learn how to bake the perfect bread
A two day bread making workshop by Shekhar Ghildiyal got all the participants eager to learn breads starting from basic to expert ones. Baking breads is a matter of understanding the relationship between flour, water, yeast, salt, and sugar and Shekhar demonstrated how to transform these ingredients into a variety of delicious breads.
While day one was all about learning how to make basic breads, tips and tricks of kneading, proofing, etc, day two was advanced learning about breads made with alternate flours and ingredients like wheat, multi-grain and more which require detailed techniques and effort.

Shekhar who is a prolific bread baker who began baking breads as a hobby, over the years perfected his skills through experimentation, trial and retrial. He says that the two important things to keep in mind while baking bread are, "Bread can turn out to be badly baked because of two reasons - one if you are using bad quality yeast and second is if the dough has not been kneaded properly. The participants thus spent a lot of time in learning the proper kneading techniques like mixing the dough, stretching it, feeling the consistency change under your hands... once they perfected it there was nothing stopping them."
