Amrit Sinha and Vanshika Mahindra (TOI Photo)Day two of the on going Lucknow Mahotsav was dedicated to music, mirth and dance. Kick-started by ADM Ashok Kumar Singh, the evening began with a classical vocal recital by Ashmita Mishra, an upcoming artiste.
This was followed by a Bharatnatyam dance performance of Laxmi Srivastava, lecturer at the Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidyalay alongwith her troupe.

The troupe including Vanshika Mahindra, Meenakshi Tripathi, Pooja Singh and Amrit Sinha entertained the audience with a scintillating dance performance.
Surabhi Singh, a disciple of Pt Arjun Mishra, gave a mind blowing Kathak performance on a thumri, Maiyaa mori mein nahi makhan khao and a ghazal while Vikas Mishra provided the beats for her on the tabla.
Manik Bannerjee’s sarod recital on the old raga Chandranandan left the audience spellbound.
The scene stealers definitely were the young performers of a television talent hunt show and the stand up comedian of another popular TV show.
Himani, Debojit, Aishwarya and Deepak Raja pepped up the evening with their respective performances.
With Anita Sehgal filling in with her impeccable compering, the crowd could be heard cheering loudly for the artists.

Debojit made a dashing entry with Ek haseena thi and Khaike paan Banaras wala while Himani’s Beedi jalai le and Aisa Jadu dala re certainly had a magical effect. Aishwarya Ajab Si had all dreaming of their dream girls while his Dard-e-Disco, reminded them of the heart aches.
Deepak Raja provided the comic relief. His stand-up act and puns on kids and their habits had people rolling in their seats with laughter.
