On Maharashtra Day, Nagpur saw singer-composer
Avadhoot Gupte flaunting a saffron headgear and regaling the Nagpurians at Kasturchand Park with his mellifluous renditions of Swabhimaan geets.
The singer won many brownie points early on, when he said: "I've performed in Nagpur so many times that it feels like coming home now." Then, with his songs, Avadhoot set the stage on fire.
Songs like Myanat usal le talvari paat, Jai jai Maharashtra maza and Priya Amucha Maharashtra Desh Ha compelled the audience to hum along. He got emotional while singing a Marathi song on farmer's plight, which left everybody misty-eyed.
To change the flavour, he shifted the gear and belted some light numbers like Tujhe dekh ke meri Madhubala. He also called a few girls from the audience on stage to shake a leg with him on Pori zara hadu hadu chaal.
We saw Assistant Commissioner, Income Tax, Pallavi Darade enjoying the musical treat. She got emotional as she said: "Avadhoot's musical interpretation of farmer's plight will haunt with me for a long time."
