Local artisans expect some good sales this Diwali
This Diwali, artisans are working really hard to make some good profits. They are extremely thankful to those who have decided to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali this year. In the past few years, the popularity of Chinese lights and electric candles had increased in such a way that it affected the sales of diyas and other handmade decorative pieces made by the local artists.
However, this year people have already started buying a variety of colourful diyas to celebrate Diwali in a traditional manner.

Pintu, a potter from Phulwari Sharif, said, “We are very happy that people are appreciating our hard work and creativity. When Chinese decorative lights were ruling the market, we had a tough time. But this year, many people want to decorate their homes with showpieces and diyas made of clay. We are hopeful about making a good profit this festive season.”
Local artisans are busy making diyas of various shapes and sizes. Dheeraj Yadav, another artisan from Anishabad, said, “These days, people look for fancy diyas. So, my family members and I are currently busy creating some trendy designs. Diyas that are selling well include tortoise diyas, flower-shaped diyas, latern diyas and floating diyas. All these are priced between Rs 30 and Rs 120. People are also buying sets of six diyas. They are of the same design and are priced at Rs 60 per set.”
