This New Year, instead of waking up at noon to snoozing alarms and a raging hangover, many Raipurians are starting the day with 6 am jogs and downward dogs. Motivated by the urge to start the year anew, and to put their fitness and wellness goals out into the universe ASAP, the city’s youngsters are more than happy to brave the chill in order to kick off 2019 the right note - with biking expeditions, sunrise meditation and more...
Starting on a positive note “It might be in my head, but you can’t start a New Year sleeping late and feeling hungover. That’s gloomy and depressing,” says Nikita Jamwal, an entrepreneur, adding, “I want a positive start to my day and the year, and so, I am going to be out at 6 in the morning for an outdoor yoga session at Telibandha Lake.” Similarly, Dinesh Shukla and his friends will start their year with an epic bike ride. “We are all set to take our bikes out at 4 am and ride to Naya Raipur. Once we reach there, we will capture the rising sun on our cameras, and take a little break before we start with our morning workout. The idea is to continue this through the year since our 2019 is dedicated to health, fitness and happiness,” says Dinesh.
Cheers to a healthy 2019The temperature has dipped to 10 degrees Celsius, but many are more than excited to brave the chill. "What better way to start the day than to go out in the beautiful winter morning and jog?” says Nikesh Shah, a medical professional, who adds, “The motivation is simple - to be charged up and start the year on a positive note. I will be jogging for 5 km today. We are excited to be outdoors, where we can see nature and breathe fresh air. All these things might seem philosophical, but they impact your mood in a positive way.”
Setting positive resolutionsMeanwhile, Sneha Gill, a marathon runner from the city, and her pals are starting their day with meditation and positive affirmation. “Our resolution was to start the year anew, leaving all negative incidents and thoughts behind. That’s our purpose. We are saying hi to the sunrise and Namaste to our thoughts while breathing in the fresh air. Nothing can be more positive than this. While meditating, we shall be putting this resolution out into the universe,” says Sneha.
