Bengali social comedy Rango Bibaaho (Marriages By Design), directed by Amitabha Chaterji, marked its international debut with the unveiling of its official trailer and poster at the Marche du Films during the Cannes Film Festival.
The film was first presented at the CII Indian Pavilion on May 15, followed by a second showcase at the Bharat Pavilion on May 19. The launch events drew filmmakers, industry delegates, members of the international press, and guests from across the global film community.
Positioned as a social comedy, Rango Bibaaho explores themes of love, marriage, companionship, and loneliness in contemporary society. The film takes a satirical yet emotional look at evolving human relationships, using humour and social observation to reflect on how ideas of marriage and personal connection are changing.
The cast includes Deshaa Nandii, Amrita Mukhopadhyay, Partha Sarathi Chandra, and Jagannath Chakraborty in key roles.
The poster was unveiled at the Indian Pavilion by actor Puja Batra and American producer Angela Asatrian, along with other invited dignitaries.
The Cannes showcase marks the film’s first official international presentation. Following its launch, Rango Bibaaho is set to begin its run across international film festivals and is currently awaiting its theatrical release in India.
