Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee’s directorial to screen at the I View World International Film Festival in New Delhi

Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee’s short film Home has been officially selected for the I View World International Film Festival in Delhi. The festival, which focuses on gender politics and equality through the arts, has hosted renowned filmmakers like Deepa Mehta, Mira Nair, Aparna Sen, and Onir over the years. Sujoy’s directorial is a silent film inspired by a poem penned by Arundhathi Subramaniam and explores gender politics. The short features twelve actors from the Kolkata film industry: Sudipa Basu, Bidipta Chakraborty, Chandreyee Ghosh, Aparajita Auddy, Sohini Sarkar, Tuhina Das, Suparna Datta, Subhasree Patel, Ratasree, Debjani Chatterjee, Paramita Saha, and Sauraseni Maitra in pivotal roles. The film has already been screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival and the Birmingham Indian Film Festival.Presented by Rituparna Sengupta and mentored by Sohag Sen, Home was created with the aim of presenting gender as a spectrum rather than in traditional boxes. Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee expressed his excitement about the film’s selection, saying, “This festival is a melting pot of arts that lead gender to be a spectrum and not boxes. I am glad that my film has been selected to be screened there.” Apart from screening Home, Chatterjee will also participate in panel discussions on gender politics and filmmaking.The silent film will be screened at 5:30 PM onwards on March 15 at the Travancore Palace, followed by Suman Ghosh’s Puratawn at 6:00 PM, starring Sharmila Tagore, Rituparna Sengupta, and Indraneil Sengupta.The I View World International Film Festival will run between March 12 and March 19 and is open to public viewing with free registration.
