Suryansh

Story: Karan is an honest and valiant cop on a mission to fight against criminals, and to reduce the crime rate in the city. The film is about his mentor Vikram Rana, who is a police suspect and also the kingpin of the city’s crime cartel, about which Karan is not aware. Karan investigates a series of odd occurrences in the city, including the murder of Jaydev Rana (Vikram Rana’s son). The deeper he digs into the clues, the more complex it gets. Everyone he trusts seems to be involved and the investigation yields no results. In his quest for the truth, he is joined by press reporter Aditi and sub-inspector Jahangir Khan.
Review: While it looks like an exciting package, that of an action-packed crime thriller (thanks to its smartly done trailer), Suryansh doesn’t quite live up to the expectations. The primary reason behind that is the slow pace, but another drawback is its predictable storyline, which is a big ‘no’ for any thriller. The over-the-top display of sponsoring brands doesn’t help much either. However, credit is due to the director duo of Kamal Patel and Sachin Desai for making an attempt to pitch in an action-thriller in D-Town. Sachin Desai as DOP has been phenomenal but on the edit front, he fails to put up a crisp movie. Kamal Patel has put up great production values, while the dialogues-screenplay by Chintan Pandya are decent. We love the music, particularly the two songs ‘Mahuva’ and ‘Donkey Monkey Duck’. Even the title track ‘Hoon Suryansh Chhu’ goes well with the title and end credits.
Coming to the performances, Freddy Daruwala is brilliant in the action sequences (although, the movie doesn’t have too many action sequences) and both he and debutant Heena Achhra make for a glamourous onscreen jodi. Mehul Buch is seen in an altogether different avatar as Vikram Rana, and he looks powerful and adds energy to every scene he takes up. We loved the performances of Alpana Buch, Jay Bhatt, Prashant Barot and Vikee Shah. Ashish Kakkad and Nimrit Vaishnav donned the grey shades with effortless ease.
In a nutshell, this one’s is an average, lengthy masala movie with a predictable story.
