Did You Know Avani Modi is an accidental writer?

Avani Modi, is one talented actress who has been making her mark in the film industry, one stellar performance at a time. Since making her debut in the Gujarati film 'Carry On Kesar', she has gone on to star in many other regional films and even Hindi cinema. But, did you know that besides being a full-fledged actress, Avani also considers herself as an 'accidental writer'?
Avani shared, "I call myself an accidental writer.Sometimes you end up being something you never thought you would be doing and the same goes for me. Unlike acting, writing was never in my mind though I was always fond of literature. I wanted to study arts after my 10th board but the societal taboo didn’t allow me. I didn’t have the guts to admit that I wanted to study literature and I still regret it. But as they say, things fall in your lap if you are meant for it and writing happened to me just like that."
She went on to add, "I had started writing poetry since my college days but never thought of making my mark as a writer. It was just a hobby to satisfy my creative hunger. And just like that many story ideas were used to pop up in my mind which I would share with my friends or family and forget later. And just like that one day an interesting story idea stricken my mind which I immediately shared with my director friend Eddy Singh who was working in Ramoji Film City Hyderabad then. He is a director who could probably see potential in my idea and asked me to write a story out of it. Honestly, I didn’t take it seriously for a few days as I wasn’t confident about writing. But I am glad he pushed me hard to write. Somehow I wrote a story and mailed him, he just loved it and said visualize could be an entire movie from your story. Amazingly, I was also happy to see someone seeing it as a film but then he wanted me to develop a full script which I thought I could never do, and advised him to hire a professional writer who knows the job. We started looking for a good writer to develop a script out of 5 pager handwritten story of mine. It was interesting scouting, those who were good were busy and unaffordable to us and those who were ready weren’t impressive enough. Some of them also wrote sample scenes which were straight discarded by Eddy sir. After wasting about 4 months he told me, 'Avani no one would be able to give a Justice to your story except you. Don’t fear, let’s start writing.'"
His words boosted my morale and we started writing it. He taught me the nuances of screenplay writing and I learned screenwriting while working on it. Later I narrated it to some of my writer friends and their feedback added a professional touch to my script. After writing almost about 15 drafts my script 'Modi Ji Ki Beti' was made under our banner AE Creatives, directed by Eddy Singh is now ready for release this year. Since then writing and storytelling have become my new passion," she said.
The actress also revealed that during the lockdown, she got ample time to develop scripts and dive into the world of her characters who get to write their destiny. "Kabhi Kabhi Lagta Hai Apunich Bhagwan Hai...!" Avani signs off with a laugh.
