Uday Gadhavi, son of veteran singer Hamir Gadhavi, has been singing Dhollywood folk songs since childhood. He has several hits to his career and with the ongoing festive season of
Navratri, the musician opened up about his passion in an exclusive chat with ETimes.
What is the importance of music?Performing in front of my fans is similar to playing in your mother's lap.
It gives you immense strength and happiness. It motivates you to create new music and provides you comfort.
When did you realise that music is your calling? At a young age, I used to accompany my father to his performances. When millions of fans would cheer ‘waah waah’, at that very point I decided that I want to follow my father’s path.
How did you pursue your career in music?I have inherited my music skills from my grandfather to my father and the blood runs in the family, walking on their path I reach the huge platform now.
Who is the inspiration behind your successful musical journey? What keeps me going is the spirit of the people when I start singing. The thunderous response of fans to my music makes me feel very good. Chants of 'Bhai-Bhai' and 'Mughal' make me feel proud. It satisfies my thirst to do better. I am thankful to Goddess Bhagwati for showering me with such love.
Have you ever faced any difficulties in your path?Every artist faces difficulties in their life, but it is best to dedicate yourself to your work. With the blessings of Goddess Saraswati things can always get easy.
Which are your favorite songs and who is your favorite singer?I don't have any specific favorites. But I enjoy old classics like 'Maadi Hu Toh Baar Baar Verse Avyo'. As for my favorite artists, there are two. One is my father, Kirtidanbhai Gadhavi, I am not praising him because I am his son but because he has a powerful voice. Also, I take inspiration from Kirtidanbhai Gadhavi, he has been making our society proud.
