Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 beats Prabhas’ Baahubali 2 to become the highest grossing film in 5th week
With every passing week, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao led, and Amar Kaushik directed Stree 2 is creating a new box office benchmark, which will get extremely difficult for future films to break from. Stree 2 is already the second biggest film in Hindi cinema behind only Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, and needs about Rs 18 crore to take the top stop.

The sequel to 2018 hit film just completed its 5th week at the box office, and went about minting Rs 24.65 crore over the last 7 days, with about Rs 15.5 crore coming from the weekend and remaining from the weekends. And with this number, the film has beaten the record held by SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2- The Conclusion for the last 7 years. Baahubali 2 had earned about Rs 24.5 crore across languages in the country, while Stree 2 minted Rs 24.65 in a single language. If one goes by collection in just Hindi language, Stree 2 with just its weekend collection, had beaten the 5th week numbers of Hindi Cinema’s biggest hits like Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal ( Rs 7.18 crore), Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 ( Rs 7.28 crore) and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan ( Rs 9.71 crore)Stree 2 is part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe which already has Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon through Bhediya and Abhay Verma and Sharvari via Munjya. Soon, vampires will be joining them via Ayushamann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s film directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.
