The film that was originally slated for a 2026 release, advanced its theatrical debut, opening in cinemas on Christmas Day. With this, the film was expected to score a decent opening and expected to perform well on its first day at the box office.

As per a report on sacnilk, 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' scored an early estimate of Rs 7.50 crore India net on its first day. However, later, reports indicated that contrary to initial reports, the film earned an estimated Rs 7.25 crore. These figures were still higher than the early predctions that indicated it would open to figures around Rs 5 crore net.

While the film's net collections are currently in the Rs 7 crore range, its gross total collection has reportedly hit the Rs 9 crore mark.

The movie reportedly had an overall 34.56% Hindi occupancy with morning shows drawing in the lowest footfalls at 18.18% and night shows raking in the highest at 40.23%.

Although the rom-com enjoyed a holiday release, it faced stiff competition from the Hindi spy-thriller, 'Dhurandhar' which completed its third week at the box office on Thursday. As per reports, the film earned an estimated collection of Rs 26 crore, its third highest collection during its week 3 run at the box office.

'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' vs 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'

The film also had to battle the Hollywood release 'Avatar: Fire and Ash', which released in Indian cinemas last weekend. The James Cameron directorial scored an impressive Rs 13 crore on Thursday, scoring one of its highest weekday collections.

Stiff competition at the box office

'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' has managed to score its Rs 7.25 crore opening despite stiff competition from both the Bollywood and Hollywod films. Just las week, the Kapil Sharma starrer 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2' struggled to get a footing at the ticket windows. While facing off against the heavyweights, the film reportedly struggled to cross the Rs 1 crore mark daily at the box office. As a result, it struggled to make it past the box office collections of 'Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon' which earned an estimated Rs 49 crore lifetime collection.

'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' among Kartik Aaryan's highest Day 1 collection

The rom-com currently stands among Kartik's top 5 highest openings at the box office. While the actor has had several releases opening under the Rs 10 crore mark, he has recorded higher openings for his franchise releases like 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' (2024) which earned Rs 36.60 crores and 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' (2022), which earned Rs 14.11 crores. It remains to be seen if the film's final figures for Day 1 will help push it past the earnings of 'Satyaprem Ki Katha' which scored Rs 8.25 crore on Day 1.
