Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film saw a good first-weekend collection and is a hit film. The film clashed with Anupam Kher's 'The Accidental Prime Minister' at the box office, both centered on nationhood and patriotism. Critics and audience have lauded Vicky Kaushal's performance.

According to the latest report by BoxofficeIndia.com, on Monday, the film has managed to collect Rs 10.25 crore on its fourth day at the box office. The film has till now managed to collect a total of Rs 45.75 crore in four days at the box office.
The film is based on the surgical strikes carried out on September 29, 2016, by the Indian Army on terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control. The strikes were carried out in retaliation to a terrorist attack on an army camp at Uri earlier that month.
Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' is produced by Ronnie Screwvala. 'Uri' was announced by the producer after one year of the surgical strike in September 2017. The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari, and Mohit Raina in the lead roles.
