'Veere Di Wedding' box-office collection Day 2: The Sonam K Ahuja -Kareena Kapoor Khan’s not-a-chic-flick mints Rs 11.50 crore on Saturday

The Shashanka Ghosh directorial ‘Veere Di Wedding’ has finally hit the theatres and it has taken the box-office by storm right from the day one. The Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam K Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania starrer raked in Rs 11.50 crore nett at the box-office on Saturday, according to a report in BoxofficeIndia.com.

'Veere Di Wedding', is a high spirited and upbeat coming of age story revolving around the lives of four childhood friends and their trials and tribulations in modern day world, regarding family acceptance, marriage and societal perceptions.
Talking about being a part of the film, Kareena had said, “When Rhea Kapoor approached me with the story, I loved it and wanted to be a part of this world. It's in a different space from what I have done earlier. I believe strong women lift each other up and Veere Di Wedding reinstates that women bring out the best in you.”
Sonam shared, “The film celebrates four friends, who happen to be women. I am excited to know the audience’s reaction and hope the story resonates with today's youth.”

Swara, who had a blast shooting for the film, added, “It has taken years for filmmakers to finally make a movie about the friendship between women, who aren’t falling for the same man. Kudos to Ekta Kapoor, Rhea and Shashanka’s vision. We hope this one breaks the glass ceiling.”
Shikha too averred, “It was exciting to work alongside Kareena, Sonam and Swara. Veere Di Wedding is a coming-of-age film and one that will have you laughing off your seat, reminiscing the good old days with your friends and just enjoying this journey called life.”
