'6-5=2' Exploring a new genre of horror

Produced and directed by Bharat Jain, 6-5=2 is the remake of a Kannada film by the same name. Starring Niharica Raizada, Prashantt Guptha, Ashrut Jain, Gaurav Paswalla, Gaurav Kothari and Disha Kapoor, it tells the story of six friends who encounter bizarre incidents during their mountain trek. These incidents are recorded in a video recorder.
The remake, which has Sathya Hegde as its cinematographer, is one of the first Hindi horror films in the found footage genre, where the story is presented as if it were a discovered video recording left behind by characters who have died or gone missing.It involves naturalistic acting and shaky camerawork as seen in Hollywood films like Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project among others. Bharat says the original had highly inspired him.
“I was its distributor,” he states, adding, “I had experienced something similar in 2001. We, 10 friends, had gone trekking on a mountain and encountered strange incidents. Only eight of us returned. Two of my friends are missing till date.”
6-5=2 releases November 14.
