In a first, the Mahotsav Committee plans to screen feature films based on Lucknow or shot in the city at a multiplex. The Lucknow Mahotsav gets bigger and better with each passing year. While a host of the usual activities are planned for the mega festival slated for November, the Mahotsav will also have a few first-time events this year. Apart from the cycle race, vintage car rally , wrestling competitions and book fair, the festival will also host a photo exhibition titled Lucknow Memories Through The Lens.
“We have also planned an open-air theatre programmes where plays, acts and cultural programmes will be organised at the Lohia Park in Gomtinagar, but that is still in the planning stage,“ informs
RP Yadav, Regional Tourist Officer and secretary of the Lucknow Mahotsav Committee. What's also special is the live transmission of the Mahotsav news through FM radio.
“This will provide listeners with live updates about the festival," adds Yadav.
“But the highlight of the Mahotsav this time will be the daily screening of feature films at a multiplex across the city. These films will either be based on Lucknow, shot in the city or even those which have a mention of Lucknow in them. “We are discussing the matter with multiplexes in the city and we will be giving out ads for inviting expression of interest from them and accordingly decide upon the venue for these film shows,“ says Yadav .
LUCKNOW LIT CARNIVAL MAKES A COMEBACK AT THE MAHOTSAVKanak Rekha Chauhan, one of the organisers of the Literature Carnival shares,“Yes, this year again we are organising the carnival as part of the Lucknow Mahotsav. We will be dedicating the Carnival to Amritlal Nagarji to commemorate his birth centenary. His grandaughters will be coming for the carnival from the US and so will his daughter Achalaji. There will be nearly one whole day dedicated to him along with Bhagwati Charan Verma and Yashpalji too. All of them have been such accomplished writers and are from Lucknow, so that's why we want to dedicate a huge section of the carnival to celebrate these Hindi writers," informs Chauhan.
