Adtiya Dhar completes Arju Rampal's characetr arc as Major Iqbal for Dhruandhar 2
With Dhurandhar still running in cinema halls and the release date for its sequel coming up Aditya Dhar is rushing to tie all the ends to gives fans a complete experience with the story that began on 5th December last year. The bulk of the shooting has already been complete and the team is currently upping the ante for post production but there are still few patchworks which need completion
According to Mid-day, on January 25, Aditya Dhar and his team began working on a three day patch shoot at Golden Tobacco compound in Vile Parle, Mumbai. The shoot involved Arjun Rampal's character Major Iqbal - set was converted into a safe house complete with military-grade set pieces, tactical boards, and weapons lockers to establish Iqbal’s operational environment.
“Dhurandhar shows Major Iqbal as a ruthless character. In the second part, the director wanted to give context to who he is when he’s not in the field. These portions will establish his personal stake in the events and bridge his decisions later in the story. Around 50 background artistes were present for the shoot” -the report added.
Adding to the rare excitement around the sequel is the fact that Dhurandhar (2025), the first installment is still running in theatres.The film opened on December 5, 2025, and has since become the highest-grossing Hindi film in history, with a staggering Rs 833.4 crore domestic total, an almost unheard-of figure in the post-pandemic environment. Its sustained run is expected to stretch well into the sequel’s marketing window, creating a unique overlap where both parts of the franchise could be in circulation simultaneously.The teaser of the second part is expected to release today.
Dhurandhar 2 releases on March 19, 2026, and is headed toward a major box-office clash with Yash’s highly anticipated film Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-starring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi.
