His Republic Day release has been pushed ahead to May 12.Milan Luthria's Baadshaho featuring
Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and
Vidyut Jammwal, was scheduled for January 26, 2017, locking horns with
SRK's Raees and
Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil. But Mirror has now learnt that producers
Bhushan Kumar and Milan have pushed it ahead to May 12.
"I've been told that
Ritesh Sidhwani and
Rakesh Roshan, producers of the other films, called Bhushan requesting him to move the release date.
We discussed it and decided to shift to May 12 to accommodate their request," says Milan. "History is full of examples of big films which released on the same Friday, like Gadar and Lagaan, and still made an impact. Ultimately it is the product that matters. As a filmmaker my job is to make a good film and not ponder on all this."
Baadshaho also features Ileana D'Cruz and
Esha Gupta and rolls in Mumbai in August. After this 15-day schedule, it'll head to
Rajasthan in October, where the film is set, and shoot till December. Milan will be going for a quick reccee and also is working on his actors' look: "All play characters they've never done before. Ajay is a man of the soil, impulsive and stubborn, and Emraan's rustic and twisted. Vidyut is cocky, Ileana the charmer and Esha the no-nonsense chick. And all have grey shades," he had told Mirror (June 22).
