T-Series and People Tree Films’ Patiala House is one of the first big ticket films of 2011. Bollywood’s original Khiladi, Akshay Kumar, is excited about it because it has the right dose of emotions and entertainment. Shot extensively in the United Kingdom, Nikhil Advani’s Patiala House is Akki’s first release in 2011. The film is being talked about for various reasons: one of them being the fact that Akshay and the fresh-from-the-praise-for- Band Baja Baraat girl, Anushka Sharma, are steaming it up together.
This is also the first time that Akki’s gorgeous ma-in-law, yesteryear beauty Dimple Kapadia, plays his mother on screen. And Rishi Kapoor plays the iron-fisted patriarch in this story of a Sikh, joint family.
Yes, Patiala House that releases on February 11, showcases four generations of the Kahlon family who live together, in a suburban house in London. Besides dealing with the emotions of a joint family, their joys and sorrows, the film should strike an immediate chord because it also talks of India’s main religion — cricket. It tells you how a 34-year-old ex-cricketer who sacrificed his dreams for his father’s ideals is given a second chance to fulfil his ambitions. Says Nikhil, “The essence of Patiala House is pursuing your dream when life gives you a second chance. Here Akshay happens to be a cricketer, but he could’ve been a musician or a poet. It can be your story or mine.” Producers Mukesh Talreja and Bhushan Kumar say, “We feel that this is a film that every Indian will be able to identify with, as almost all Indians at some point have the experience of living in a joint family. It is a full-on entertainer.”Check out Akshay Kumar’s homepageFollow us on Twitter for more stories
