'Animal' actor Saurabh Sachdeva joins Dev Patel’s historical action thriller ‘The Peasant’
Actor and acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva has joined the cast of 'The Peasant', a large-scale historical action thriller led by Dev Patel. The upcoming film has already completed an extensive shooting schedule across several Indian states. The production team filmed key portions of the project in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

About 'The Peasant'

Reports from the portal say that set in the 14th century, 'The Peasant' revolves around a shepherd whose life is turned upside down after mercenaries destroy his community. Driven by grief and anger, he sets out on a brutal mission to track down those responsible. As his journey unfolds, he discovers unsettling truths that force him to confront his own nature. The story combines action, revenge and emotional drama against a historical backdrop. The project is directed by Dev Patel, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Will Dunn.

International cast alongside 'Animal' star

'The Peasant' brings together a diverse group of performers from different parts of the world. The ensemble is led by Christian Friedel, who earned widespread praise for his work in 'The Zone of Interest'.
Joining him are Danish actor Sebastian Bull, known for Sons, and Anasuya Sengupta, whose acclaimed performance in The Shameless brought her international attention. Veteran actor Vipin Sharma is also part of the cast. The project reunites him with Dev Patel after their collaboration in 'Monkey Man' which received good reviews. Saurabh Sachdeva has become one of the most recognizable character actors in recent years. His performances in 'Animal', 'Jaane Jaan' and 'Bambai Meri Jaan' received appreciation from audiences and critics alike.

The actor has also completed filming for another upcoming project starring Fahadh Faasil. Most recently, Saurabh was seen in the Malayalam film 'Eko', where he played the role of Kuriachan. Speaking to ETimes earlier about the film, the actor shared his admiration for the project and its creative team. He said, "It is a very good movie, and I am so impressed by the director, the writer who is also the cinematographer. The music takes the story forward so beautifully, and the way he writes the screenplay is truly remarkable. Till now, he is my best filmmaker, and I am proud that I am a part of this. The acting of everyone is not just very good, the story itself is beautiful.”
