The Aashiqui star explained that she was unaware of the topless scene when she first reviewed the script. She initially refused to participate in the scene when it was proposed because it was not part of the original agreement. On the 29th day of filming, the director unexpectedly introduced the scene as a night shoot, which left her shocked. She decided not to go through with it, not due to inability, but as a matter of principle.

After completing the shoot and returning to Mumbai, she began to reflect on her decision to refuse the scene. She questioned herself about why she turned it down and ultimately concluded that it was unethical. She felt that any such scenes should have been disclosed as part of the script from the beginning, allowing her to make a fully informed choice.

She explained that appearing topless publicly isn't something one does casually, and she was initially surprised when the director insisted on including the scene after the film's selection. Eventually, she agreed to shoot the scene, despite feeling that if the film's success depended on it, she could have taken a different approach. As a lead actor, she would have preferred to cover up, but she accepted the challenge as an actor and agreed to participate.
This episode in her career not only highlights the complexities actors often navigate but also reinforces the importance of transparency and communication in the filmmaking process. Anu's journey, marked by both iconic roles and bold choices, continues to inspire and captivate audiences, reflecting the multifaceted nature of her talent.
