Bollywood actress Dia Mirza recalled her time when she first met the legendary singer Asha Bhosle, when the actress was just 18.
Sharing a carousel post featuring the actress and the singer from what looks like a shoot, Dia reminisced her olden days with Asha Bhosle.
I was just 18 when I first met her, and had the privilege of working with her on “Na Marte Hum” from Aap Ki Asha. We spent four beautiful days in Paris and Mumbai, days I will carry with me forever.”
Dia further highlighted, “She was gentle, deeply kind, generous in ways that felt effortless, and so full of warmth. She went on to include me in many of her programmes while I was trying to find my voice.”
She added, “The world celebrates Asha Bhosle ji for her astonishing versatility - for the way she could inhabit any song, any emotion, with such truth. But to have known her, even briefly, is to understand that she was all of that and more. Melodic yet fierce, tender yet formidable… a woman who didn’t just walk her own path, but widened it for so many who would follow.”
The actress further called the singer as generous and ever supportive.
She wrote, “To witness her grace, her discipline, her joy in creation - was to witness greatness, gently worn. The last rites of legendary singer Asha Bhosle will be performed at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Monday afternoon with state honours.
The 92-year-old singer who ruled Bollywood for over seven decades with her wide range of memorable songs passed away on Sunday due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Later, her mortal remains were brought to her residence in Lower Parel.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid last respects to Bhosle at her residence on Sunday evening and offered floral tributes.
State Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, along with legislators Sunil Shinde and Prasad Lad, also paid their respects.
"Asha Bhosle will be accorded a state funeral, which will take place at 4 pm on April 13," Shelar said.
The singer's son, Anand, said people can pay their last respects to her at 11 am on Monday at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she lived.
"Her last rites will be performed at 4 pm on Monday at Shivaji Park," he told reporters.
Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan took to his social media account to mourn the loss of stalwart singer Asha Bhosle.
On April 12, Hrithik mentioned how Asha Bhosle always had a quiet presence in his life, as he penned a heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer as she breathed her last.
Sharing a picture of himself with the stalwart singer, Hrithik wrote, “India lost a gem.
Asha ji was not only a legend who I had the good fortune of interacting with, but she was also a constant quiet presence in my life, always looking after my best interest, a reassuring and grounding force and the giver of the warmest hugs.”
He added, "I will miss you deeply Asha ji. Thank you for the priceless memories and your timeless songs. You are and will always be the Queen of Indian playback singing."
Expressing her emotions on the demise of Asha Bhosle, Ameesha Patel said, “I would like to say that the film industry is facing a huge loss. We have lost a legend, an icon. And of course, for the music industry, it’s a big blow. Even at the age of 92, she was so active, and I believe she could still sing. I’m sending my condolences, strength, and positivity to the family during this tough time.”
Talking about her favourite song of Asha Bhosle, Ameesha said, “My own song, “Jaane Man Jaane Man,” of course!”
Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel, in an exclusive conversation with IANS, recalled the time of her first day at shoot at her debut movie Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, that kickstarted with legendary singer Asha Bhosle's song Jaaneman Jaaneman.
Talking to IANS, Ameesha said, “For me, especially, it’s a bittersweet feeling. It’s a beautiful memory because Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, which was my first film, began with the song “Jaane Man Jaane Man.” This song was sung by Asha ji. So my first step in the film industry started with her. It’s a memory that I will cherish all my life.”
Talking about meeting Asha Bhosle, Ameesha said, “Absolutely, I have many memories of meeting her, at film occasions and celebrations. During Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’s silver jubilee, the cast, crew, and technicians would receive trophies, and Asha ji was also present at those occasions. Her beautiful smile was always there, along with her incredible voice. She was full of life.”

Speaking with ANI, he spoke highly of Asha Bhosle, who passed away on Sunday due to multiple organ failure.
"I am deeply saddened that Asha Tai, a singer who was so renowned worldwide and sang so many songs, is no longer with us. She inspired so many generations over the years. As a filmmaker, I had the opportunity to work with her. She sang many songs in the films...She will be missed...," Madhur expressed.
The music world is mourning the loss of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92.

Veteran actor Annu Kapoor remembered the singer with emotion and spoke about the sadness felt by many after hearing the news. Calling people "fortunate" to have seen and worked with her, he said Asha Bhosle had reached the highest level of greatness in music.
"The news of Asha ji's passing has deeply saddened me; I don't know what more I can say. We are all very fortunate to have had the opportunity to see her and work with her. Among those who reached the greatest heights of greatness, Asha Bhosle was one, and now she is no longer with us," he told ANI.
Asha Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been admitted on Saturday evening after suffering from extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.
Confirming the cause of death, Dr Pratit Samdani said, "Asha Bhosle breathed her last today in Breach Candy Hospital. She passed away due to multi-organ failure."
